Affordable Space Adventures is a 2‑D side‑scrolling spaceship simulator that turns the Wii U GamePad into a “heads‑down display” cockpit. Players configure the various systems of the Small Craft™ shuttle to navigate an alien and hostile world. The game supports solo play but is primarily designed for crews of 2‑3 players, with operational tasks split among teammates. This makes the experience a cooperative challenge not only in the puzzles, but also in operating the Small Craft™ itself.
My role
I joined the project shortly after joining KnapNok in early 2014. Initially I was a programmer, focusing on the GamePad interface that turned the GamePad into an intuitive cockpit. As development progressed toward the DLC, my responsibilities shifted toward design, shaping new mechanics and level concepts for the expansion.
This was one of the first real game projects I was involved with. Being part of the team that brought this title to life has been a rewarding journey, and the game ended up winning several awards.
The game was released as a Nintendo Wii U exclusive on April 9, 2015.
